Boschkloof BOSCHKLOOF CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2020
Bordeaux, Napa Valley, Margaret River, Stellenbosch… the case has been made for all four to exist in the same space when discussing great Bordeaux varieties and world-class wines.
Reenen has brought a young and fresh perspective to an already ascending estate from his father Jacques. His university studies and work in the Rhône have impacted his stance significantly but it is his relationships with the new wave of South African winemakers and the sharing of ideals that have impacted him as much. The Borman’s farming methods are approached as sustainably as possible.
All of the grapes are handpicked to secure the quality of the fruit before they enter the cellar. A hands-off approach towards vinification takes place in the cellar, with ambient yeast fermentations (with the occasional pied de cuve if kinetics are slow), showcasing the terroir and exposing a sense of place in the wines.
A classic Cabernet with ripe blackberry richness. Dense dark ruby red/black color with ripe plums and integrated oak on the nose. Chocolate and black-current fruit flavors mingle with the spicy aroma. Full flavored palate and firm structure. Supple yet complex wine.
