A vibrant, younger style of Port that serves as an excellent introduction to the world of wood-aged fortified wines. Produced by the renowned Niepoort family, it is aged for an average of 3.5 years in small oak casks (known as pipes) at their cool coastal cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Taste Profile: Expect delicate aromas of dried fruits (like apricots and figs) and nuts, followed by a palate of fresh plums and cherries with soft, sweet tannins.
Style: Unlike aged Tawnies (10, 20, or 30-year), this "standard" Tawny retains a youthful fruitiness while beginning to develop the classic nutty, oxidative notes of barrel aging.
