A "traditional" style Port that bridges the gap between everyday Rubies and high-end Vintage Ports. Unlike most LBVs that are filtered for immediate consumption, Niepoort bottles this unfiltered, allowing it to continue aging and developing complexity in the bottle.
Style: Bold, full-bodied, and deeply concentrated. It is often called the "younger brother" of Vintage Port because it uses the same high-quality grapes and traditional foot-treading methods.
Tasting Notes: Expect intense aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate, and figs, with subtle floral hints like violets. The palate is fresh yet powerful, with firm tannins and a long, spicy finish.
Aging: Aged for 4 to 6 years in large old oak vats (tonéis) before being bottled in 2024.
Decanting: Since it is unfiltered, it will develop sediment. It is highly recommended to decant it before serving.
Pairing: Pairs exceptionally well with dark chocolate desserts, blue cheeses (like Stilton), or hearty red meat dishes.
Longevity: While approachable now, its cylindrical cork and unfiltered nature mean it can be cellared for one to two decades.
