Considered by critics to be one of the finest recent editions of this wine, characterized by its "stellar" presence and explosive personality. It is a high-acid, structured red that offers a rare level of power and precision for the Barbera variety.
Aromas: Intense notes of dark cherry, blackberry, and wild strawberry, complemented by lavender, spice, and pomegranate.
Palate: Rich and expansive with a "full and fleshy" texture. It features classic Barbera acidity that provides electric freshness, balanced by fine, chalky tannins and a long savory finish with hints of spice and balsamic.
Vineyard: Sourced from the prestigious Vigna Francia (formerly Cascina Francia) in Serralunga d'Alba, which has been owned by the Conterno family since 1974.
Vinification: The wine undergoes fermentation in steel vats for approximately 20 days.
Aging: It is aged for 20 months in large oak casks (botti) to maintain fruit purity and avoid excessive oak sweetness.
Food Pairings: Its high acidity and structure make it an excellent match for rich dishes such as roast duck, game birds, or traditional Piedmontese bollito misto.
