A fortified wine from Portugal’s Douro Valley, known for its "baked" richness and complex, mellow profile. Unlike ruby ports that age in the bottle, this tawny ages for two decades in small oak casks, allowing for more wood contact and oxidation.
Appearance: Deep amber with russet (reddish-brown) highlights.
Aroma: An opulent bouquet featuring ripe, plummy fruit mixed with warm cinnamon, butterscotch, and subtle oak.
Palate: Full-bodied and velvety. Expect a rich melange of dried fruits (figs, dates), toasted almonds, caramel, and toffee, often finishing with a spicy, elegant grip.
Shelf Life: Once opened, it can stay fresh for 4 to 8 weeks if kept in a cool place or refrigerator.
