A highly regarded Pinot Noir from the Morey-Saint-Denis region of Burgundy, France. This vintage is notable as it was the first year of the estate's conversion to organic and biodynamic viticulture, which, combined with difficult flowering, resulted in a significantly reduced crop but high-quality fruit. The wine features well-integrated tannins (80% whole-cluster fermentation) and lively balancing acidity that provides a "racy" and "energetic" feel.
Aromas: A complex bouquet of raspberries, strawberries, and black plums, layered with floral notes (rose petals, wilted flowers), blood orange rind, and exotic spices.
Palate: Full-bodied and velvety with a "satiny" or "silky" texture. It shows intense minerality, herbal spice, and a core of sweet fruit that some compare to the allure of Vosne-Romanée.
Composition: 100% Pinot Noir from a nearly "monopole" vineyard (the estate owns almost the entire 8.84-hectare Clos).
Winemaking: Aged in oak barrels (approximately 60% new oak), with 80% whole-cluster fermentation.
Aging Potential: This wine is built for longevity; while it shows well in its youth, it is expected to repay extended cellaring.
