A highly regarded 100% Syrah produced by Emmanuelle Verset, the 6th generation of her family to farm these vines in the Northern Rhône. This vintage is noted for being more accessible in its youth than previous generations while maintaining the traditional, "old school" character the Verset.
Aromas: A complex nose featuring ripe blackberries, cherries, and floral notes (violets and lilies). It also exhibits savory "secondary" aromas like smoked meat, olive juice, black pepper, and licorice.
Palate: Described as bold and structured, the wine offers flavors of boysenberry, bitter cherry, and spicecake. It has high flavor intensity and a granitic, saline finish with driving acidity.
Structure: Full-bodied with medium-plus tannins that are fine but "gently serrated".
Winemaking: Uses 100% whole-cluster fermentation and no new oak, aging instead in old barriques and demi-muids for roughly 15 months.
