A classic red blend from the Corse Calvi appellation in Corsica, France. Produced by the Domaine Maestracci estate, this wine is known for its rugged character and excellent value as a Mediterranean food wine.
Nose: Ripe red berries, wild herbs (maquis), spices, licorice, and toasted notes.
Palate: Full-bodied yet smooth, featuring flavors of blackberry, blueberry, and cherry. It balanced by firm tannins and vibrant acidity with a fresh, slightly peppery finish.
Blend: A mix of indigenous Corsican grapes and southern French varieties, typically consisting of 35% Niellucciu, 35% Grenache, 15% Sciacarellu, and 15% Syrah
Winemaking: Grapes are sourced from the estate's oldest vines on the E Prove plateau. The wine undergoes slow fermentation and is aged for over a year in large oak casks (foudres) and another year in the bottle before release.
