The 2017 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Combe aux Moines" Vieille Vigne is a highly regarded Premier Cru Burgundy known for its concentration, "sauvage" (wild) character, and refined elegance. Critics describe it as a broad-shouldered and deep wine with a mix of red and black fruits, earthy minerals, and spicy notes.
Terroir Influence: Sourced from 0.87 hectares of vines planted in 1928 in an old quarry, providing a "visceral expression" of the poor, stony soil.
Aromatics: Features a brooding nose of plum, black cherry, cassis, and dried rose petals, accented by notes of warm earth, licorice, and violet.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied with a fleshy ripe fruit core. It displays fine-grained but youthfully chewy tannins and lively acids.
