Didier Dagueneau "Pur Sang" is one of the most iconic and sought-after cuvées from the legendary Domaine Didier Dagueneau. Now labeled as Vin de France (VDF) following the estate's departure from the Pouilly-Fumé AOC in 2017, it is celebrated for its deep, powerful texture and complex minerality.
Vineyard Source: Primarily sourced from the La Folie vineyard north of Saint-Andelain.
Soil Type: Unlike the flint-heavy "Silex" cuvée, Pur Sang comes from deep clay and chalky limestone soils with almost no silex. This results in a broader, rounder, and more "gregarious" palate compared to the estate's more linear wines.
Tasting Notes: Common descriptors include citrus oils, ripe pear, and white peach with a signature smoky flint edge. Critics from Vinous describe the 2022 vintage as having "real class" with tangy green flavors like dill and green orange.
