An alpine red wine produced from extremely steep, terraced vineyards in the Valle d'Aosta DOC of northwestern Italy. Imported by Rosenthal Wine Merchant, this vintage showcases a striking balance of blistering solar concentration and high-altitude mountain freshness.
Aroma: Expressive bouquet of wild blackberries, black cherries, plums, field herbs, violet petals, and hot stone minerality.
Palate: Medium-bodied with a velvet structure, balancing thick dark fruit and dense tannins against a sharp, rapier-like acidity.
Evolving Notes: Aeration reveals deeper undertones of leather, tobacco, earthy minerals, and sweet spice box.
Grape Composition: Primarily 90% Petit Rouge, blended with 10% Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Gamaret.
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested in early October, destemmed, and spontaneously fermented for two weeks in fiberglass and stainless steel. It rests for 9 months on its lees and is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Terroir Character: Sourced from a 5-hectare amphitheater-shaped bowl. The name "Enfer" (Hell) originates from the blistering daytime heat trapped by the rocky slopes, contrasting sharply with freezing night temperatures.
Food Pairing: Pairs exceptionally well with roasted chicken, turkey, game meats, and savory alpine cheeses.
