Widely considered one of the legendary vintages from this First Growth estate in Pauillac, Bordeaux. It is a powerhouse wine known for its incredible aging potential, often cited as needing at least 10–15 years of cellaring to begin showing its full potential, with a lifespan that can exceed 50 years.
Nose: Initially "mute" or closed, it opens to reveal warm blackcurrants, baked plums, violets, graphite (pencil lead), and cedar.
Palate: Full-bodied and dense with a "rock-solid" backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and fresh acidity. It possesses a signature "ethereal lightness" despite its power.
Finish: Exceptionally long and minerally with lingering notes of violet and spice.
