A highly-regarded, value-driven red wine from the Rioja Alavesa sub-region of Spain. Sourced from organically farmed vines averaging 45 years of age near the medieval village of Laguardia, this vintage is noted for its purity and balance.
Tasting Notes: Expect a medium-bodied profile with bright red fruit like cherry and cranberry. Reviewers highlight savory, earthy undertones of mushroom, tea leaf, and dried oregano, alongside subtle spice, leather, and tobacco from the oak.
Composition: A traditional blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Mazuelo (Carignan).
Production: Hand-harvested and fermented with wild yeasts in large concrete vats. It is aged for 14 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels before resting further in concrete and bottle.
Style: Unlike heavier Reservas, this Crianza focuses on red fruit purity and terroir-driven earthiness with firm, well-integrated tannins.
