A legendary "unicorn" wine from Piedmont, recognized for its production from ungrafted Nebbiolo vines in the Gabutti vineyard of Serralunga d'Alba.
Aromas: Mature notes of dried cherry, worn leather, truffle, iron, and rose petals.
Palate: Elegant and structured with a "mineral grip" typical of Serralunga. Expect flavors of licorice, strawberry, and deep mineral undertones.
The "Piè Franco" Philosophy: The late Teobaldo Cappellano planted these vines in 1989 on their own roots (ungrafted), a "backwards evolution" intended to recreate the pure, pre-phylloxera style of Barolo.
1999 Vintage: Considered a classic, structured vintage for the region, producing wines with significant longevity.
Pairing: Traditionally paired with truffle dishes, aged meats, or simply enjoyed on its own as a "meditation wine".
