Widely considered a benchmark for rosé Champagne, known for its pale salmon pink hue, fine effervescence, and high precision. Produced by the family-owned Champagne Billecart-Salmon house (est. 1818), this non-vintage cuvée is celebrated for its elegance and consistent quality.
Nose: Subtle and fine, featuring aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, citrus zest, and floral notes like rose petals or hibiscus.
Palate: A creamy, smooth tactile sensation with "remarkable precision". Common flavor notes include crunchy redcurrant, white cherry, nectarine, and a hint of almond or chalky minerality on the finish.
Style: Light, fresh, and ethereal, with mouthwatering acidity that makes it highly "vinous" (wine-like) yet delicate.
Composition: A blend of approximately 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Meunier, and 30% Pinot Noir. It gains its signature color from the addition of a small percentage of still red wine, often sourced from old-vine Pinot Noir in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ.
Method: Vinified mostly in stainless steel to maintain freshness, with 36 months of aging on the lees.
Dosage: Typically 7-9 g/l (Brut), though some recent releases have seen lower dosages of ~5 g/l, occasionally labeled as "Le Rosé".
