A vivid, skin-contact "orange" wine from Alsace, France, known for its luscious texture and purity. Produced by Jean-Marie Bechtold, the fourth generation of his family to lead the estate, this wine reflects a commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture.
Flavor Profile: Expect a complex, palate-coating experience with prominent notes of honeycomb, ripe apricot, and chamomile. It also features nuances of cherry, rose petal, and ginger, balanced by a gentle tannic grip and crushed-slate minerality.
Style & Winemaking: This is an orange wine made using red wine methods; 100% Pinot Gris grapes from the Obere Hund vineyard are macerated on their skins for 12 days before aging in a single old foudre.
Appearance: Due to the extended skin contact, the wine typically displays a copper-gold to light red or "salmon pink" hue.
Purity: It is made with no added sulfur, which contributes to a palate described as having great directness and "equipoise".
