Highly acclaimed, 100% Syrah wine from one of the Northern Rhône’s most legendary estates. Despite the hot, sunny 2018 vintage, it is noted for its surprising freshness, balance, and classic "old-school" character.
Aromas: Intense notes of dark berry, smoky bacon, floral pastilles, licorice, and olive paste. Some critics also highlight "bloody blue fruits," smoked game, pepper, and iron-like mineral scents.
Palate: Full-bodied but not "massive," offering flavors of juicy blackberry, bitter cherry, and spice cake. It is supported by powerful, mineral-driven acidity and "chewy" tannins that build on the finish.
Aging Potential: Experts from Wine Advocate suggest it will drink well through at least 2040. While approachable now with significant decanting (6+ hours recommended), it is expected to truly "spread its wings" after 10 years of bottle age.
