Nikka Coffey Malt is a unique Japanese whisky made from 100% malted barley. Unlike traditional single malts, it is distilled in Coffey (column) stills—equipment almost always reserved for grain whiskies—resulting in a spirit that is exceptionally smooth and creamy.
Nose: Prominent tropical fruits (banana, papaya, peach), butterscotch, and soft vanilla.
Palate: Rich and malty with flavors of cinnamon, clove, lemon cake, and even hints of milk chocolate.
Finish: Medium-short and clean, leaving a lingering sweetness of oak and fruit
The "Coffey" Name: It refers to Aeneas Coffey, the inventor of the continuous column still, and has nothing to do with coffee beans.
Not a "Single Malt": Because it is distilled in a column still rather than a pot still, it is technically classified as a grain whisky despite being made entirely of malt.
