Buehler Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
Crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Buehler's hillside estate vineyards and other mature low-yield Napa Valley Cabernet vineyards on the valley floor, this wine captures the spectrum of aromas, flavours, and textures that develop in Cabernet from different Napa Valley sites. The wine was racked four times in the first year of aging to encourage aroma and tannin development, then aged for around a year and a half in French and American oak. The result is a quintessential Napa Cab: seamless, balanced, lush yet elegant. A real treat. The wine brims with black fruit aromas and flavours that will drink well on release. A decade or so in the cellar will yield a velvety texture, softened tannins, and a more nuanced nose and palate.
The value-priced 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a clean nose of smoked herbs, chocolate, ash, and earthy notes yet turns slightly dry and firm on the finish. It has some upfront charm, but I wouldn't push the aging curve here.
