Coming from a tiny 3-hectare vineyard and sandy, clay soils, the 2018 Château Clos Junet is an interesting blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Malbec. Lots of Cabernet Franc notes of red and blue fruits, flowers, forest floor, and spice give way to a medium-bodied, elegant Saint-Emilion with terrific purity, a balanced, elegant texture, and enough structure to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for a solid decade or more.

This small estate west of the town of Saint-Émilion has produced a rich, structured wine with plenty of potential. Ripe, juicy blackberry fruits and a firm layer of dry tannins give the wine plenty of time to develop. Drink from 2024.

The 2018 Clos Junet turned out beautifully. Rich, ample and textured in the glass, Clos Junet has a ton to offer. Blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and dried herbs all blossom in the glass. Bright floral and blood orange notes perk up the finish.
