A blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 Château La Fleur de Boüard comes from the de Boüard family of the famed Château Angélus and was brought up in 75% new French oak. It shows the subtle change in style at this estate and is fresher and more elegant, with a pretty bouquet of black raspberries, crushed flowers, and hints of tobacco. It fleshes out beautifully on the palate and offers medium body, silky tannins, and a beautiful finish. It's a seamless, beautiful wine well worth buying and cellaring. It's going to keep for 10-15 years or more.
The 2016 La Fleur de Boüard has an attractive bouquet of bilberry and blueberry fruit laced with graphite and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and quite linear in style at the moment. More red fruit develops toward the sappy finish. This is a pleasurable La Fleur de Boüard, although it needs more charm.
Cherry, blood orange and bergamot notes are woven with a light sandalwood hint. Charming, silky finish. Drink now through 2023. 10,000 cases made.
