Soil similar to that of Clos de la Roche, with the same dalle nacrée and a very thin soil. The wines are just as dense and have a nice complexity of aromas and flavours. Notes of sweet spices, with softness and very ripe fruit as the small clusters of grapes are affected by millerandage (very small grapes of varying sizes).

The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet of raspberry, black currant, smoke and tobacco, building nicely with aeration and becoming quite intense after 10-15 minutes. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and good structure, quintessentially Morey in style, displaying ample salinity and a judicious touch of spice. This has great length plus a sense of reserve. Built for the long term. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
