2016 Continuum has heightened citrus blossom and rose petal aromatics, and builds in power and presence on the palate with cassis, dark fruits, bergamot, and dried wild herb with notes of cigar box and leather. Exquisitely balanced, 2016 is expansive and sinewy on the mid palate with a graphite and earthy minerality. The firm iron core of these volcanic soils causes the vines to struggle, producing fewer but more flavorful berries. That is expressed in 2016 Continuum's vibrancy, many layers and assertive structure, all of which pay homage to its origin. For the fullest sensory experience we encourage decanting to allow the wine to breathe before serving. Decanting awakens the wine's more purely fragrant expression and enhances the suppleness of the palate. Continuum is accessible and enjoyable upon release; however extended aging will be richly rewarded.

The 2016 Proprietary Red Wine Sage Mountain Vineyard may very well be the single greatest vintage made here thus far. It is quite simply a stunning wine and a towering achievement from the Mondavi family. Powerful, ample and sweeping in stature, the 2016 boasts breathtaking intensity in all of its dimensions. I see the pure, vibrant fruit of the 2013, but with more finessed tannins that add to the wine's feeling of real sensuality. Bright, precise and finely sculpted with remarkable persistence and perfectly integrated tannins, the 2016 is positively stellar - not to mention one of the wines of the vintage.

This is a very young, concentrated and tannin-laced wine with great potential for aging, from Tim and Marcia Mondavi's Pritchard Hill winery estate. An almost black color is the first impression, then an aroma of blueberries, blackberries and black currants leads to very ripe black-fruit flavors and oak spices that are thoroughly held in check by the tight texture. Best from 2028-2038.

Dark and winey, delivering well-steeped currant and blackberry fruit infused with dark earth, tobacco, and graphite notes. The fruit wins out in the end, but the background keeps this grounded. Really solid. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Best from 2020 through 2030. 4,000 cases made.
