Domaine Daniel et Denis Alary Cairanne l'Estevenas Rouge 2016
From a south facing old mountainside of blue/white clay-limestone soil, grapes are hand-harvested separately at their optimum maturity.
Fermentation with only indigenous yeasts lasts 23 to 28 days. Grapes are sorted and separate vinification of different grape varieties
General tasting - Blackcurrant fills a rich and explosive nose of bloody cured meat. A soft palate showing dark black fruits, mocha and chocolate, nicoise olive, and earthy tar notes. Well structured tannins enhance the body.

Wine EnthusiastRounder and softer than this producer's other 2016 bottlings, L'Estevenas is a full-bodied, fleshy blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah. Black-cherry and plum flavors are ripe and ruddy, accented by hints of black olive and garrigue. It's a supple, thickly concentrated wine framed by firm, gripping tannins. Ready now, but it should drink well through 2024.
