Montevertine PIAN DEL CIAMPOLO 2015Composed of Sangiovese with tiny amounts of Canaiolo and Colorino blended in, this is the basic red wine of the estate. It sees 18 months of aging in large barrel. The 1.5 hectare vineyard parcel was re-planted in 2003; the vineyards face east - northeast which produces a long growing season resulting in the complete maturation of the grapes and exceptional balance to this wine which reflects the classic Montevertine style marked by elegance and complexity. Food Pairings: Salami, pasta, grilled meat.
Bussola Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso Ca' del Laito 2014Aged for 17 months in 700L Austrian oak - second passage. Ca'del Laito was a place-name for a vineyard that straddles the ridge above Quintarelli. Tommaso purchased the vineyard (and the little workhouse there) from Masi in ~2002.

Aroma: Intense aromas of red and black fruit, bitter chocolate, notes of herbs, toast, tobacco and olives. Mouth Feel: A fresh and broad mouth; nice palate with gentle and mature tannins, plus its typical black pepper and spicy character. Food Pairing: Ideal to pair with casserole dishes, red meat, stews, lamb, sausages. Also, it goes perfect with typical Chilean preparations such as corn dishes (pastel de choclo, and humitas), porotos granados (beans) and empanadas.

A very fruity and expressive wine with an elegant finish enhanced by the three months of lees contact post-fermentation. Pairings: Drink alone or with white meat, fish, seafood or light salads.
