Domaine Méo-Camuzet Clos de Vougeot 2013
|Appellation||Cote de Nuits|
Wine EnthusiastToasty aromas are not enough to smother the intense, rich and concentrated fruitiness of this powerful wine. Structured and with a firm backbone, it is slow in developing. its brooding dark character still very obvious. However, the fruit is all there, waiting to release the burst of red-berry flavors. Drink from 2022.
Wine SpectatorPure, featuring rose, cherry, strawberry and mineral aromas and flavors. Though light-weight, this is concentrated, lingering with an aftertaste of cherry and stone. Just on the austere side now. Best from 2019 through 2033. 525 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a withdrawn bouquet at the moment and it that takes time to unfurl before it reveals, albeit reluctantly, quite pronounced sous-bois scents that are more pronounced vis-à-vis Meo-Camuzet's other 2013s. The palate is medium-bodied with "stringy" tannins: quite grippy in the mouth, with length, if not the finesse that a more benevolent vintage would have bestowed. I was expecting just a little more from this Clos de Vougeot.
