DuMol Eddie's Patch Syrah 2001
|Appellation||Russian River Valley|
Wine SpectatorIntense and concentrated, almost syrupy. The core wild berry, blackberry, boysenberry, mint and beef scents give it plenty of flavor complexity, and it's focused, with a long, persistent aftertaste. Ripe tannins give it a smooth aftertaste. Drink now through 2009. 468 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe 2001 Syrah Eddie's Patch (360 cases) is a blockbuster effort from this hillside vineyard. One-hundred percent destemmed, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it boasts a roasted meat, charcoal-infused, blackberry-scented nose with hints of violets in the background. Dense, full-bodied, and super-rich as well as gorgeously pure with chocolatey, herbal undertones, it needs 1-2 years of cellaring, and should last for 10-12 years.
